TX DPS Chief: Officers Could've Stopped Uvalde Shooter Within Minutes

Officers could've stopped the gunman who killed students and teachers at Robb Elementary school within minutes. That's what Texas DPS Director Steve McCraw told a state Senate committee meeting. He said there's "compelling evidence" that the response by law enforcement on May 24th in Uvalde was an "abject failure." McCraw specifically blamed the on-scene commander for stopping officers from responding more forcefully to the mass shooting. McCraw said the commander placed officers' lives before kids. He noted those inside a classroom waited more than an hour to be rescued. Nineteen students and two teachers died in the shooting.
