A landscape worker is dead after a bee attack in west Austin. Franco Martinez was in a backyard tree suspended by a harness when he accidentally disturbed a hive and was swarmed. His co-workers attempted to help him but were also stung as the bees attacked.
Firefighters arriving on the scene were able to blast away the insects with their hose, but not before Martinez was apparently stung to death. His exact cause of death will determined after an autopsy. He was 53 years old.
