San Antonio police are reporting record numbers of deadly traffic accidents in the city. The SAPD responded to 205 fatal crashes in 2021, the most ever recorded in a year. The total includes crashes involving cars and trucks of all sizes, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Investigators say most of the fatalities could have been prevented, because they involve distracted drivers, people not using seatbelts, speeding, and alcohol. Also, pedestrians are often killed while not using the crosswalk, or wearing dark clothes at night.
