Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is amending a lawsuit against the Biden Administration after new guidance was issued in response to the state's investigations into gender-affirming care for minors. The lawsuit comes after the Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that restricting medical care solely based on gender identity likely violates the Affordable Care Act. Paxton claims this means the federal government could withhold more than a billion dollars in response to the state's investigations of gender transition procedures for minors as child abuse. The lawsuit comes the same day a state court rejected Paxton's appeal of a temporary restraining order on one such investigation.
