Governor Greg Abbott is ordering an investigation into gender transitions for children in Texas. Abbott is directing the Department of Family and Protective Services to look into reports of children undergoing transition procedures following a legal opinion from Attorney General Ken Paxton issued on Monday. Paxton claims minors allowed to transition are being subjected to child abuse under Texas law. The governor says any licensed professionals who do not report the procedures could be subject to criminal penalties.
