The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a Bexar County Jail inmate after two other inmates reportedly attacked him. The sheriff's office says 50-year-old Ernesto Tavera and 28-year-old Brandon Lerma assaulted the 40-year-old inmate, whose name hasn't been released. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday. All three men are active members of the Mexican Mafia. The Texas Rangers will file additional charges against Tavera and Lerma.
