Researchers Round Up More Than 400 Invasive Fish From San Marcos River

State officials are reminding people that dumping their aquariums into Texas bodies of water risks introducing invasive species. Texas Rivers & Streams, a division of Texas Parks & Wildlife, says Texas State University and Texas A&M researchers recently removed more than 400 suckermouth armored catfish from the San Marcos River at Rio Vista Park. Texas Parks and Wildlife officials say they got there as a result of aquarium dumping. They urge residents not to dump either freshwater or saltwater aquariums into bodies of water, or even to flush them down the toilet.
