The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is in dire need of blood donors. There is less than a two-day supply of blood of all types. Type O supply is at a less than a day. The shortage affects hundreds of local hospitals and their thousands of patients. Heart surgery and organ transplant patients, accident and burn victims, and cancer patients need Type-O blood to survive. Donors can make appointments online or by phone, but walk-ins are more than welcome.
