The Biden Administration is trying to stop a new Texas abortion law. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar argued in the Supreme Court that the state is trying to thwart the supremacy of federal law. She argued the Texas law is "unprecedented" and lobbied the justices to issue an injunction against Texas itself. The law bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. It's also unique because it allows anybody to sue when they think the rule is broken. Prelogar argued the rules are stacked against abortion providers and that has had a chilling effect.
