Paxton Urges Local Texas Governments To Sign Onto $26B Opioid Settlement

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is urging local governments in the state to sign on to a multi-billion-dollar opioid settlement. Paxton announced in July that Texas had joined the 26-billion-dollar, multistate settlement with the country's three major drug distributors, as well as drug manufacturer Johnson & Johnson. The agreement could produce a billion-and-a-half dollars for Texas and many of its local governments. The distributors are accused of inadequate monitoring of prescription drug shipments. Johnson & Johnson is accused of downplaying the addictive properties of its opioids to both doctors and patients.
