Nicholas Brings Thousands Of Power Outages

More than half-a-million South Texas homes and businesses are without power after what was left of Hurricane Nicholas moved through the area. Nicholas is not a Tropical Storm after making landfall overnight. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said a weather station in Matagorda Bay registered a sustained wind of 76 miles-an-hour, with gusts topping 95 miles and hour. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages the power grid, says they have been preparing for knocked down poles.
