Hurricane Nicholas has made landfall along the Texas coast. The National Hurricane Center says the eye of the Category One storm came ashore early Tuesday morning on the Matagorda Peninsula near Sargent Beach. Governor Abbott issued a disaster declaration Monday for 17 counties in the storm's path. The storm is tracking in a northerly direction toward the Houston metro area. Nicholas is then expected to continue into Louisiana.
