Missions Allow 15 Runs on 21 Hits in Shutout Loss

The San Antonio Missions suffered their seventh shutout loss of the season in game one of their series against the Midland RockHounds. San Antonio allowed 15 runs on 21 hits while collecting just three hits of their own.

Midland got things started with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Facing Osvaldo Hernandez, Jonah Bride singled with two outs to keep the inning alive. JJ Schwarz drove him in with an RBI double to left field.

The RockHounds increased their lead in the bottom of the second by adding seven runs, seven hits, and two home runs. Max Schuemann drove in the first run of the inning with an RBI single. With two outs in the inning, Bride hit a grand slam. Lastly, Jhonny Santos hit a two-run home run on the first pitch of the at-bat. Midland improved their lead to 8-0.

Midland plated runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Bride drove in another run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth against Dylan Rheault. In the fifth, Kyle McCann hit a solo homer off of Brandon Komar.

After scoring a run in the seventh inning, the Missions brought in infielder Olivier Basabe to pitch the bottom of the eighth inning. Basabe allowed four runs on five hits to make it a 15-0 ballgame.

Esteury Ruiz recorded two of the Missions hits Tuesday night, including a double. Newcomer Agustin Ruiz recorded a base hit in his first at-bat with the Missions.
