Congressman Henry Cuellar says federal border security officials are expected to visit the Rio Grande Valley this week. The date and time for the scheduled visits are still pending. However, in a statement yesterday the Laredo Democrat gave assurances that Department Of Homeland Security chief Andrew Mayorkas is expected in the Valley sometime this week. Also this week incoming Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz takes over from outgoing head, Rodney Scott. Ortiz was in Laredo and Del Rio last week and is also expected in the Valley this week sometime, according to Cuellar.
