JBSA-Lackland Put Under Lockdown Due To Possible Active Shooter Situation

No injuries are being reported following an active shooter lockdown at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. JBSA officials say they are investigating whether shots were fired outside a gate this afternoon. Trainees were in the area at the time.

The base initially tweeted, "Active Shooter warning for all JBSA-Lackland personnel. All base personnel implement LOCKDOWN procedures immediately and take cover." Officials later lifted the lockdown saying they were unable to find any shooter or shooters. Initial reports said there were possibly two people involved.

San Antonio Police and Bexar County Sheriff's Deputies patrolled the area around the base and were unable to find any suspects. Lt. Col. Brian Loveless said they have not been able to confirm whether shots were actually fired at the base.
