Missions Launch Season High Three Homers in Wednesday Night Victory

The Missions hit a season high three home runs, including their first grand slam of the season, during a 9-2 victory against Springfield Wednesday night.

San Antonio used the long ball to get on the board in the second inning. Jack Suwinski connected for his sixth home run of the season which gave the Missions a 1-0 lead.

The Missions added a run in the fourth inning with an RBI single from Juan Fernandez. Springfield cut the lead in half in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Ivan Herrera was hit by a pitch to plate a runner.

Esteury Ruiz brought the lead back to two runs after he drove in a run with a single in the seventh inning. The Missions opened things up in the eighth inning. Fernandez hit the team’s first grand slam of the season, and his first home run of the year. This gave the Missions a 7-1 advantage.

Kyle Overstreet hit the third home run of the game for San Antonio in the ninth inning. The two-run homer was his second of the season.

Missions’ reliever Tom Cosgrove picked up his first win of the season after pitching 2.1 scoreless innings. The left-hander allowed one base hit and struck out three batters.
