Texas House Fails To Pass Election Legislation Before End Of Session

Texas will not pass sweeping election reform this legislative session. The state Senate approved a bill early Sunday morning, but the House was unable to put it to a final vote before the session ended at midnight. In an attempt to stall the vote until time ran out, House Democrats exited the Capitol in the final hours. This left representatives without the two-thirds quorum needed. Governor Abbott said he is deeply disappointed the bill was not passed, but he plans to add election reform to the special session later this year.
