Police are identifying a driver who was killed when he crashed his car while evading police. Officers say 25-year-old Jose Astrain Junior sped away from an attempted traffic stop around 11 p.m. Saturday on West Avenue near Dresden Drive. He reportedly lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic, and ran into a pickup truck. Police say Astrain wasn't wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital. The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers. No charges will be filed.
