State Senator Dawn Buckingham says the penalty for rioting in Texas should be increased. The Travis County Republican says current rules don't do enough to stop protesters from attacking police and damaging property. Her proposed bill comes as the nation braces for the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial. On Sunday, a drive-by shooter wounded two Minnesota National Guard members who were part of a security team made up of troops and Minneapolis police. Buckingham says it should be a state jail felony for rioters who commit assault.
