Texas Pauses Using J&J COVID Vaccine

Cities and counties all across Texas are stopping the use of the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine. The decisions were made today following recommendations from the federal and state governments. The CDC suggested the pause after six women got blood clots about a week after receiving the dose. The local groups are switching to either the Moderna or Pfizer version of the vaccination.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is encouraging people to get their coronavirus vaccine. The governor says people shouldn't be scared after use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was paused after six people developed blood clots. Abbott says COVID vaccines are the most effective way to stop the virus and wants Texans to get the Moderna or Pfizer shot. He adds any Texans who experience severe headache, stomach pain, leg pain, or trouble breathing up to three weeks after the J&J dose to call their doctor. The federal and Texas governments ordered the pause in the J&J dose today.
