Biden Administration Releases Its Budget Request

President Biden wants Congress to authorize 1.5 trillion dollars in federal spending for 2022.

Biden's first budget proposal for discretionary spending is a preview of the full annual budget he's expected to release later this spring.

It seeks to invest heavily in education, public housing, and efforts to confront the pandemic and climate change. Biden is calling for a nearly 16% increase in funding of non-defense domestic programs. He also wants to keep defense spending at about the same level.
