Dr. Anthony Fauci has warned that a new surge in Covid-19 cases could be on the way.
Data from John Hopkins University shows that there were more than 61,000 new cases reported on Wednesday.
On CNN, Fauci said, "It's almost a race between getting people vaccinated and this surge that seems to want to increase."
More than 109 million people in the U.S. have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
Fauci has encouraged people to stick to preventative tactics and get vaccinated.
"Hang in there a bit longer. Now is not the time, as I've said so many times, to declare victory prematurely," said Fauci.
