City Manager: Contractor Unprepared For Arrival Of Migrant Kids At Freeman

City Manager Erik Walsh is reporting that a contractor hired to provide services for the migrant teens housed at Freeman Coliseum wasn't prepared for their arrival. Walsh told City Council about the situation at Thursday's meeting. When 500 unaccompanied kids arrived at the coliseum on Monday, 80 Head Start employees helped them get situated. Walsh says they were on the scene working two shifts in order to buy time for the contractor, who was hired by the federal government.
