The Biden administration's relationship with China isn’t exactly getting off to a great start. Secretary of State Antony Blinken clashed with his Chinese counterparts in their first face-to-face meeting in Alaska yesterday. Blinken said the administration wouldn't hesitate to bring up concerns about China's actions that threaten global stability (though he did leave out their human rights abuses). China's diplomats fired back, accusing the U.S. of obstructing trade relations and inciting attacks against China. They also called on the United States to stop advancing its own version of democracy. U.S. officials accused China of "grandstanding," while Beijing said the U.S delegation was "condescending." The tit-for-tat went on for an hour before it was over – the delegations are set to meet again today.

The Biden administration’s trouble at the border shows no signs of abating. Officials say they’re taking in around 600 unaccompanied minors every day. And now comes word that more than 14-thousand migrant children are in the federal government's custody after arriving at the border. Biden administration officials say the number of children currently detained includes over 95-hundred kids in Health and Human Services (H-H-S) custody, with an average stay of 34 days. Another 45-hundred kids are with Customs and Border Protection (C-B-P). The numbers come as the White House has begun referring to the situation at the southern border as a "crisis," after refusing to do so for weeks – instead calling it "challenges." But it’s not just the numbers that are concerning – it’s about children being housed in adult facilities that are exceeding capacity and often for much longer than legally allowed.
3 TX Republican Suggests Lynching For Justice
A Republican congressman is under fire after invoking lynching as a form of justice..even more? He’s not apologizing. Representative Chip Roy of Texas made the comment at a hearing about hate crimes against Asian Americans. Roy was talking about how all Americans deserve justice, and said there was an old saying in Texas “about finding rope and a tall oak tree.” His remarks drew swift backlash from Texas Democrats. State Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa called his remarks "a white supremacist dog whistle you can spot from a mile away." Roy later clarified that he was using lynching as a metaphor for justice, but offered no apology. Instead, he said America should "restore order by tamping out evil actors" and "not be turned into an authoritarian state like the Chinese Communists."
