CPS Energy says it plans to take action to keep its customers from footing the bill for the high cost of fuel during the winter storm. The utility owes an estimated one-billion-dollars to natural gas suppliers and ERCOT. CPS executives have said repeatedly over the past week that they won't pass the cost on to their customers. State Senator Jose Menendez says CPS may be able to get some of the costs reduced through the attorney general's office and legal action. Lawmakers may also make use of the state's rainy day fund.
