Senate Democrats Have 'Plan B' For $15 Minimum Wage

After learning that they can't include a $15 federal minimum wage as part of the COVID-19 relief bill, Senate Democrats are moving on to 'Plan B'.

Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, who chairs the Senate Finance Committee, is proposing a bill that impose a 5 percent tax penalty on large corporations that paid workers below a certain amount - giving them a financial incentive to raise wages.

Democrats will try to add the provision to the $1.9 trillion relief bill, which they're trying to push through via budget reconciliation, which allows the bill to pass with a simple majority instead of 60 votes.
