Energy CEO: Texas Companies Plan For Extreme Heat, Not Cold

Concern is being raised about how Texas energy companies prepare for extreme weather following a series of power outages. Vistra Corp. CEO Curt Morgan told two Texas House committees today power companies plan for high summer temperatures, but not very low winter temperatures. Morgan says most businesses are prepared for temperatures to hit ten degrees, although temperatures were lower than that last week. He noted companies up north encase their equipment for the winter, but noted that would cause overheating when temperatures warm up. The Texas House State Affairs and Energy Resources committees are holding a joint hearing on last week's outages which affected millions of Texans.
