Texas Senator Ted Cruz says he wanted "to be a good dad" by taking his daughters to Cancun amid freezing blackouts in Texas. Speaking at the airport in Cancun, Cruz explained his decision to leave the state. Cruz says his family lost heat and power and when his girls asked to take a trip with friends, he flew down with them to the resort city in Mexico.
In a statement released today, he said he's working with his team using all their resources to keep Texans informed and safe.
