A man is in custody after reportedly stealing a fire truck in Austin. Police say the man stole the truck from firefighters who were on a call in Austin, then led police and state troopers on a 45-mile chase from near the University of Texas to Jarell on I-35. A witness says equipment like oxygen tanks and fire extinguishers were falling off the truck and being run over by cars on the highway. Police used spike strips to stop the truck. The driver was arrested, and charges have not been released.
