SAPD Collective Bargaining Rights Will Be Up For Public Vote

Voters will soon decide whether to repeal the collective bargaining rights of San Antonio police officers. City officials announced Thursday that a petition filed by the anti-police group Fix SAPD has been validated with more than 20-thousand signatures. Voters will decide on May 1st whether to opt out of a state law that provides collective bargaining rights for police officers. The San Antonio Police Officers Association opposes the move. Negotiations for a new contract between the city and the union are set to start a week from today.
