Details Released In Samsung's Subsidy Request For Austin Plant

Samsung is looking for over a billion dollars in government subsidies to build a chipmaking plant in Central Texas. The South Korean-based technology company filed documents with the Texas Comptroller's Office yesterday saying most of the incentives would be in the form of property tax breaks. It also wants tax abatements from Austin and money from the Texas Enterprise Fund. Samsung told the state New York and Arizona are also offering incentive packages, but really want to be in Austin. Construction could start this year if Samsung goes with Austin.
