AAA Texas: Statewide Gas Price Now Higher Than A Year Ago

The Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch says gas prices in Texas are higher than a year ago for the first time in nearly a year. The statewide average price is $2.16 a gallon for regular unleaded. That price is up three cents from a week ago, and is also three cents higher than a year ago. The national average is $2.44. The pandemic is keeping demand low as people drive fewer miles, but gas prices are rising because of higher prices for crude oil. The average price at the pump in Houston is $2.13.
