The Texas Attorney General is naming San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg for the first time in an ongoing "sanctuary cities" lawsuit. The suit accuses the city of disregarding a state law that requires city and county officials to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. A-G Ken Paxton's office says the mayor instructed city staff not to call federal authorities after a dozen illegal immigrants were found in a trailer in December 2017. San Antonio police later released the group instead of handing them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
