A Bexar County sheriff's deputy is on unpaid leave after his arrest for assaulting another deputy over the weekend. San Antonio police arrested 35-year-old Deputy Maverick Moreland shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office says the off-duty deputies were on a date at the Happy Hut bar on West Avenue at the time of the reported attack. Moreland is charged with assault family violence and criminal mischief. Sheriff Javier Salazar says termination proceedings are underway.
