Houston Mayor Unveils Plan To End Traffic Deaths In City

Houston now has a plan to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on the city's roadways by 2030. Mayor Sylvester Turner on Wednesday gave the details of the Vision Zero Action Plan, which aims to improve street safety for Houstonians no matter how they get around. Turner says the plan will rely on input from Houston Public Works, the police and fire departments, Harris County, Metro Transit, TxDOT, and other sources. He said putting the plan into action will start with building at least 50 miles of sidewalks and 25 miles of bike paths a year.
