U.S. Hospitals Running Short On Staff, Supplies As Coronavirus Surges

Health care systems across the U.S. could be overwhelmed as coronavirus deaths pass a quarter of a million.

The nation has averaged more than 150,000 new cases per day over the past week and around 70,000 Americans are hospitalized.

More than 20% of hospitals report not having enough doctors and nurses to treat the surging numbers of patients.

The president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine says hospitals can get equipment but, "We don't have a way to make more staff."
