Los Angeles Nearing Possible Lockdown, Three-Week Curfew

Los Angeles residents could be heading for a lockdown and a three-week curfew as coronavirus numbers surge back to peak levels. L.A. County Health Services Director Christina Ghaly says hospitalizations are increasing at an unsustainable rate.

The amount of coronavirus hospitalizations in Los Angeles County will directly affect the amount of restrictions people face. There are currently about 1,200 people hospitalized with the virus throughout the county, which is 40% more than two weeks ago.

Public health officials warn that if the number goes above 1,750, then all restaurant dining would be banned. If it goes above two-thousand patients, officials will order another lockdown and impose a three-week curfew on residents.

Those same restrictions could also be ordered if the county starts averaging more than four-thousand new cases per day. A 10:00 p.m. curfew on all non-essential businesses begins tomorrow night.
