Former presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg is backing a Democratic candidate for the Texas Railroad Commission to the tune of millions. The billionaire gave more than two million dollars to Chrysta Castaneda's campaign. Castaneda is a Dallas attorney running against Republican Jim Wright for one of three seats on the state agency that regulates the oil and gas industry. Wright owns an oilfield waste services company. The Wright campaign said Texans "don't need failed politicians from New York telling them how to vote."
