President Trump Signs Bill To Keep Government Running Past Election

The federal government will remain open through the election.

President Trump signed a temporary spending bill to allow the federal government to keep paying its bills through December 11th.

The Senate had passed the bill earlier Wednesday, just in time to avoid a government shutdown.

He signed the bill after midnight, but there was no lapse because officials didn't order agencies to cease operations. Lawmakers will have to deal with the budget after the election in a lame duck session of Congress.
