Governor Greg Abbott is planning a press conference for today to give an update about the state's ongoing response to the pandemic. The governor announced the event on Wednesday. Earlier this month, Abbott dropped hints on social media about providing the "next steps" on perhaps easing coronavirus restrictions in Texas. Last week, he extended the state disaster declaration that was first issued in March. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen, and other officials will join Abbott at noon in the state Capitol.
