New York City Mayor de Blasio says every employee in his staff including himself will be furloughed for one week starting October 1st in an effort to save money.
The mayor's office budget has now been cut by 12 percent.
The city is in a huge budget hole due to coronavirus and the mayor says so far Albany has not given the city approval to borrow money.
The mayor says he's doing his best to avoid layoffs with potentially 22,000 jobs at stake. The mayor says the city has already cut seven billion dollars from the budget and continues to work with labor groups to find savings and avoid layoffs.
