A longtime San Antonio-area pastor has died.
First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio said Rev. Dr. Louis Zbinden died Friday due to health issues at 84.
Zbinden served as the pastor at the church from 1971 until he retired in 2003.
“Dr. Zbinden was a gentleman, a friend, husband, father, grandfather, scholar and a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ,” said Rev. Dr. Bob Fuller, Senior Pastor at FPC. “God sent him to San Antonio at just the right moment. As a churchman, he awakened our love for Jesus Christ and our love for one another. As a public leader, he awakened the compassion of the city.”
