The Texans will kickoff the NFL season Thursday night against the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs in KC. In a playoff game in January, Houston jumped out to a 24-0 lead, but lost 51-31 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Texans re-signed veteran long snapper and Baylor product Jon Weeks, who is the longest-tenured player in franchise history, and former Jets and Nebraska offensive lineman Brent Qvale.
