Attorneys for the former North Texas police officer given ten years in prison for the killing of an unarmed black man want a new trial. Amber Guyger's defense team says the ex-Dallas cop should not have been convicted of murder because she mistook Botham Jean's apartment for her own. Guyger shot Jean to death in 2018 inside his apartment. She claimed to have believed Jean, who lived on the floor above her, was an intruder. She was convicted last year.
