The U.S. Census Bureau is moving up the deadline for responding to the census by a month, from October 31st to September 30th. The October deadline had given organizers time to deal with disruptions to the count caused by the pandemic. The cutoff change comes at a time when the bureau is going door-to-door to follow up with households that haven't filled out the census questionnaire yet. Canvassers claim the earlier deadline increases the risk that the population of Texas will be undercounted.
