Aftermath Of Hurricane Hanna

Hurricane Hanna was downgraded to a tropical storm overnight as it pushed into Mexico after leaving behind flooding and damage in South Texas and across the Rio Grande Valley.

Power outages are being reported as a result of Hurricane Hanna. A-E-P reports nearly 200,000 customers without power this morning. The outages are scattered throughout the area, with most of the outages in the McAllen, Harlingen and Corpus Christi areas. More than 100,000 are without power in the McAllen area alone.

3 boaters were rescued overnight in the Corpus Christi area after becoming stranded on a boat during Hurricane Hanna. Texas Task Force and Corpus Christi firefighters worked together to rescue the three who were stranded near the Marina Del Sol Condominiums. Although the rescue was said to be tricky, no one was injured.

Roofs were blown off buildings in Willacy County and part of a wall was damaged when bricks came off a building in Hidalgo. Part of the Bob Hall Pier on Padre Island collapsed. In Edinburg the roof caved in at the Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.

High water is reported in many areas with significant flooding reported throughout the valley. Flooding is widespread in the Weslaco area.
