Astros Win Season-Opener

Michael Brantley hit a three-run homer as the Houston Astros pounded the Seattle Mariners 8-2 in Houston. Martin Maldonado drove in a pair of runs for Houston. 

Justin Verlander got the win after allowing just two runs over six innings for the Astros while striking out seven. Kyle Lewis and Kyle Seager homered for the Mariners. 

Marco Gonzales took the loss after allowing four runs in four and a third innings.

The Astros haven’t lost an Opening Day game since they moved to the American League in 2013, winning a club-record eighth opener in a row.
