American and Southwest Airlines say they lost a combined $3 billion last quarter.
American officials said in their earnings report the company lost $2.1 billion because of people not traveling during the coronavirus pandemic.
Southwest lost $915 million after its revenue fell nearly 83%. Both airlines say the numbers should be better this quarter, but the industry is unlikely to fully recover until there is a vaccine or treatment for COVID-19.
