UH Researchers Develop Filter That Traps, Kills Coronavirus

Researchers at the University of Houston are reporting the development of an air filter that can trap and instantly kill the coronavirus. The research team says tests at a Galveston lab found that a single pass through the filter kills nearly 100-percent of the virus. The filter is made from nickel foam heated to nearly 400 degrees. Zhifeng Ren, director of the Texas Center for Superconductivity at UH, says the filter could help stop the spread of the virus in airports, office buildings, schools and other public places. Next step is a desktop model to kill the bug in an office employee's work space.
