The San Antonio city manager says VIA Metropolitan Transit isn't in as much red ink as it claims to be. City Manager Eric Walsh notified the mayor and the city council on Monday that a five-year forecast sees deficits ahead from fiscal year 2023 to 2025. But Walsh says the deficits are manageable. VIA had projected a larger deficit earlier this month. The VIA board of trustees will be discussing the transit agency's push for a 1/8th cent sales tax today.
